Detailed Itinerary

01Day 0: Arrival in Nairobi – Welcome to Kenya

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari representative and transferred to your hotel for check-in and relaxation after your international flight.

Depending on your arrival time, you may choose to relax at the hotel or explore Nairobi with optional activities such as visiting the Giraffe Centre, Elephant orphanage, Karen Blixen Museum, or local restaurants for a taste of Kenyan cuisine.

Dinner and overnight stay in Nairobi.

02Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Reserve

After an early breakfast, depart Nairobi and drive south towards Amboseli National Reserve, one of Kenya’s most scenic parks located at the foot of the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge or camp followed by some relaxation before heading out for your first afternoon game drive.

Amboseli is famously known as the “Home of Elephants” due to its large elephant herds, including some of Africa’s iconic super tuskers. During your game drive, you may encounter elephants crossing the dusty plains, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, hyenas, and numerous antelope species. Predators such as lions and cheetahs are also frequently spotted.

The park’s swamps attract wildlife throughout the day, while the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro creates one of Africa’s most spectacular safari scenes, especially during sunset when the clouds clear.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

03Day 2: Full Day in Amboseli National Reserve

Wake up early for a sunrise game drive when wildlife is most active and the morning light offers incredible photography opportunities with Mt. Kilimanjaro towering in the background.

Watch massive elephant herds emerge from the acacia woodlands and move towards the swamps to drink and cool off. Amboseli is also renowned for its rich birdlife, with over 400 bird species recorded including pelicans, Flamingos and birds of prey.

Return to the lodge for breakfast and some leisure time. You may relax at the camp while enjoying uninterrupted views of the mountain and surrounding wilderness.

After lunch, proceed for another extensive afternoon game drive exploring different sections of the park in search of the big cats.

As the sun sets across the Amboseli plains, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

04Day 3: Amboseli – Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, depart Amboseli and journey through the scenic Great Rift Valley towards the freshwater shores of Lake Naivasha.

Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and relaxation before enjoying an afternoon boat safari on Lake Naivasha. Glide peacefully across the calm waters while spotting hippos wallowing in the lake and a variety of birdlife including fish eagles, pelicans, cormorants, and kingfishers.

You may also enjoy a guided walking safari at Crescent Island, where you can walk among giraffes, zebras, impalas, and wildebeests in a peaceful environment without predators.

Lake Naivasha offers a completely different safari atmosphere — calm, scenic, and relaxing — making it the perfect transition between your wildlife adventures.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight by the lake shore.

05Day 4: Lake Naivasha – Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, depart Lake Naivasha and drive towards the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s premier safari destination and one of Africa’s greatest wildlife ecosystems.

The drive takes you through scenic Rift Valley landscapes and traditional Maasai villages before arriving at your camp or lodge in time for lunch.

Later in the afternoon, head out for your first game drive in Maasai Mara. The endless golden savannahs are home to extraordinary wildlife concentrations including lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and countless antelope species.

Maasai Mara is especially famous for its big cats, and your guide will search for lions resting beneath Balanites trees, cheetahs scanning the plains for prey, and elusive leopards hidden in the ridges.

Between July and October, the reserve hosts the spectacular Great Wildebeest Migration, where millions of wildebeests and zebras cross from the Serengeti into the Mara ecosystem.

Return to camp at sunset for dinner and overnight stay.

06Day 5: Full Day in Maasai Mara National Reserve

Spend a full day exploring the magnificent Maasai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives or enjoy a full-day safari with picnic lunch in the bush.

This is your best opportunity to fully experience the incredible wildlife diversity of the reserve. Large prides of lions, solitary leopards, fast-moving cheetahs, elephants, topis, elands, and crocodiles along the Mara River are commonly seen.

Your guide will track wildlife movements while sharing fascinating insights about animal behavior, the ecosystem, and Maasai culture.

Optional activities available at extra cost include:

Hot air balloon safari over the Mara plains at sunrise

Sundowner experiences in the bush

After an unforgettable safari day, return to camp for dinner and overnight.

07Day 6: Maasai Mara – Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, depart Maasai Mara and drive towards Lake Nakuru National Park located in the Great Rift Valley.

Arrive in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive in this compact but wildlife-rich park famous for its rhino sanctuary and beautiful lakeside scenery.

Lake Nakuru is one of the best places in Kenya to spot both black and white rhinos. The park is also home to the endangered Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, waterbucks, lions, and leopards.

Along the lake shores, you may encounter large flocks of flamingos and pelicans depending on water levels and seasonal conditions. The acacia forests and rocky escarpments surrounding the lake create a beautiful backdrop for wildlife viewing.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

08Day 7: Lake Nakuru – Nairobi

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before departing Lake Nakuru and driving back to Nairobi through the scenic Great Rift Valley.

Arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon where you will be transferred to your hotel or to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.

End of Safari.
