Detailed Itinerary
01Arrival
Upon arrival in Kenya at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport a Daftons Safaris representative will meet you at the arrivals terminal for a meet and greet followed by a transfer to your Nairobi city hotel, depending on arrival time optional activities like visits to the famous Sheldrick Elephant orphanage and Giraffe center can be arranged.

02Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve
Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, heading north through the fertile highlands and across the Equator towards Samburu. Enjoy scenic views of Mount Kenya and the changing landscapes as you journey into Kenya's semi-arid northern frontier.
Arrive at your camp or lodge in time for lunch and relaxation before setting out on your first afternoon game drive.
Samburu is renowned for its unique wildlife species known as the "Samburu Special Five"—Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk. Keep an eye out for elephants, lions, leopards, and crocodiles along the Ewaso Nyiro River.

03Day 2: Full Day in Samburu National Reserve
Spend a full day exploring Samburu's dramatic landscapes and abundant wildlife.
Morning and afternoon game drives offer excellent opportunities to encounter large elephant herds, lions, cheetahs, and elusive leopards. The reserve's riverine forests attract a wide variety of birdlife and wildlife seeking water.
Between game drives, relax at camp and soak in the serenity of this less-visited but incredibly rewarding safari destination.
Optional cultural visits to local Samburu communities can also be arranged.

04Day 3: Samburu – Ol Pejeta Conservancy
After breakfast, depart for Ol Pejeta Conservancy, one of Africa's leading conservation areas located at the foothills of Mount Kenya.
Arrive in time for lunch before enjoying an afternoon game drive through this remarkable conservancy and the only safari destination with Chimpanzee’s in Kenya
Ol Pejeta is famous for its successful rhino conservation programs and is home to the world's last two remaining northern white rhinos. The conservancy also hosts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa and offers excellent chances of spotting the Big Five.

05Day 4: Ol Pejeta – Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive before departing for the Great Rift Valley.
Arrive at Lake Naivasha in time for lunch and relaxation.
In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari on the lake, where hippos wallow in the water and fish eagles soar overhead followed by a visit to Crescent Island for a guided nature walk among giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and other wildlife.
The peaceful atmosphere of Lake Naivasha provides a refreshing contrast to the safari adventures of previous days.

06Day 5: Lake Naivasha – Maasai Mara National Reserve
Following breakfast, depart for the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve.

In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive in Africa’s most celebrated wildlife destination.
The Maasai Mara is renowned for its exceptional concentrations of wildlife, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, and countless plains game species.

07Day 6: Full Day Maasai Mara Safari
Today is dedicated to exploring the spectacular Maasai Mara.
Enjoy extensive game viewing across the reserve's rolling plains in search of predators and the abundant wildlife that thrives here. Depending on the season, you may witness the world-famous Great Migration as thousands of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara ecosystem.
A picnic lunch can be enjoyed in the bush, maximizing your time in the reserve.
Optional activities include an early morning hot air balloon safari followed by a champagne breakfast.

08Day 7: Full Day Maasai Mara Safari
Another exciting day awaits as you continue discovering different regions of the Maasai Mara.

Visit the Mara River area, famous for dramatic wildlife encounters and year-round resident animals.
